where does maré come from?
Maré means "tide" in Portuguese—a gentle reminder of nature’s rhythm, of ebbs and flows, of knowing when to move and when to rest. This space was born from that same rhythm. After years of chasing movement, city noise, and digital overwhelm, Maré emerged as a soft return to stillness, light, and connection.
Set by the Portuguese coast, Maré is a peaceful getaway for those who want to slow down, breathe deeply, and feel held by the simplicity of the sea and sky. It's a tiny house, but it holds space for so much more: presence, inspiration, and the freedom to just be.
We built Maré to feel light—full of natural textures, sunlight, and quiet joy. Whether you’re here for a creative reset, a solo retreat, or a moment to reconnect with someone you love, we hope Maré leaves you feeling more grounded, more spacious, and more yourself.
behind Maré
I’ve always been curious about the world—how people live, what connects us, and the places that shape who we are. That curiosity led me to study international relations and politics, and to pick up a camera and start exploring through photography.
Over time, I realized that what excites me most is being out in the world—traveling, meeting people, capturing stories, and spending time by the ocean. Photography became a way to connect with places more deeply, and to share that connection with others.
Creating Maré brought all these parts of me together. It’s where my love for slow living, creativity, and meaningful spaces meets the desire to share something honest and warm with others. It’s not just a place to stay—it’s a piece of my story, and maybe it can be part of yours too.
